Presenter Bio
John Myett is the Chief Tax Liaison Officer for Payroll People Inc. (PPI). He joined Payroll People in 2021, and is primarily responsible for managing relationships with federal, state, and local tax agencies, in addition to representing PPI as a member of industry organizations such as the National Payroll Reporting Consortium, (NPRC), and the Independent Payroll Providers Association (IPPA).
Previously, John served as Director of Government Affairs for ADP, Inc., where he worked for over a decade. He was responsible for developing and maintaining key strategic partnerships with the IRS, SSA, and other federal agencies.
Prior to that, John spent more than 20 years with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), serving in many roles over the years. Most notably, he worked as a senior analyst with the IRS Electronic Tax Administration and as Senior National Account Manager for the agency’s largest payroll Industry partners.
All told, John has more than thirty-five years of experience in federal tax administration, with more than twenty of those years with the IRS. At IRS, John had a strong focus on payroll and employment tax operations and compliance activities, including numerous electronic filing initiatives. He led project teams for the development of major electronic filing systems, including Employment Tax e-file and Excise Tax e-file. He managed key strategic relationships with the IRS external partners and IRS business units to promote payroll industry issues and develop an agency focus on the value of industry contributions to tax administration.
John specializes in legislative and regulatory analysis and regularly reviews and interprets new legislative or agency requirements. John works with agency partners to address questions or concerns that arise with new requirement implementations.
John also conducts numerous educational and outreach sessions for both clients and prospects and is a regular presenter at the PayrollOrg (formerly American Payroll Association) Annual Congress. He is certified as an Enrolled Agent, authorized to practice before the IRS. John is also a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents, the California Society of Enrolled Agents, and PayrollOrg.
