As a reminder, important dates are approaching for the Delaware Paid Leave Program (also called the Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program). Covered employers and employees will make payroll contributions to fund the program.
- September 1 to December 1, 2024: Account setup (employers should use Delaware LaborFirst to register)
- January 1, 2025: Begin making contributions
- January 1, 2025: Employees may begin submitting claims for payment
Eligible employees may use the program in the following situations:
- Parental leave (up to 12 weeks for the birth, adoption, or placement of a child through foster care and/or caring for a child during the first year after placement or birth(
- Medical leave (up to 6 weeks in a 24-month period for an employee’s serious health condition)
- Family caregiver leave (up to 6 weeks in a 24-month period to care for a spouse, parent, or child with a serious health condition)
- Military family leave (up to 6 weeks in any 24-month period for a qualifying exigency due to a family member’s servicemember deployment)
